NaN Technologies has released the Blender Web plug-in Public Beta Version, which provides users the opportunity to view and interactively use 3D content for the Web.

Spice up your website with real 3D elements: 3D games, earth maps, 3D character animations and product demonstrations. The Blender Web Plug-in is an essential element of a new set of Blender PlayerTools, which will be released in September. These tools will allow users to publish content to the web and other media such as CD ROM. For full details of NaN's technology roadmap and business strategy please click here.

To minimize problems that could arise we want to test our Blender Web Plug-in with as many different pieces of hardware/software combinations as possible. If you have the time check out the download and cool demos and give us a hand. We have set up a separate discussion area where you can post and discuss your problems and solutions, click here.

HELP! I have a web site in yahoo's Geocities, and I got the loading blender box on my page, but how do I put one of my games to it????? please help, if you have any ideas!!!!:(

I didn't check yet. I 'am verry interested. I heard something about Gmax, a stripped 3 dmax free game engine also for the web (www.discreet.com). Probably both are not to be compared, but there is more happening out there. At this moment I can't compare them:-(

PIII-450, WIN2000, 256ram, ATI all-in-wonder 16mb card, everything worked out great. Only if I could get it to work in Linux, still having troubles with Netscape and the TNT card.

This is a great advancement for Blender and its members. Thanks for all your hard work!

Hey, it actually works on a 350MHz AMD K6 with a standard SVGA video card, no 3d accelleration! This card can't handle more than 16-bit color at 800x600, so I'm surprised the plugin actually worked on my machine considering the minimum requirements listed on the demos.

But it does, and it is totally cool! The Web will never be the same again... :)

Great job, people!

I guess it's time to implement some web-related control functions to blender (python?) now. :P
to change url's in browser and such to create completely html-less web pages :)

Just installed the Blender plug-in on Windows Me and IE 5.5 and it installed fine. Amazing! I installed Adobe's beta 3D product a while back and thought it was goofy. I think the Blender plug-in is leaps and bounds ahead of anything currently out there. Great job NaN!

Everything played without a hitch. Other than the documented Explorer crash when leaving the page - everything displayed correctly. Exciting stuff!

There are 3 Webbased 3D technologies out there now:
1. WildTangent/Genesis3D (www.wildtangent.com)
2. Nemo 3D Authoringtool (www.virtools.com), recently bought by Macromedia/Intel and recycled/renamed to "Director/Shockwave3D" (what a hilarious load of Lingocrap they're gonna make of it! Puke!!!),
and...
3. Blender. Guess which one I consider the most sophisticated, easy to use, most effective, most versitile and most promising for the future. Just to get things strait here folks: Blender is at the forefront of Internet technologies just now, and is posed to dish out some major asskicks towards Macromedias Director, Max, Maya and co. within the next 12 Months or so. I so very much wish you the best for all you've planed in the future, because you people so very much deserve it. Where can I get stockshares? (I'm serious!) And, Ton, when's that Spline Import comming up? :-)

There has always been joystick support in blender... (at least back into the 2.0# series)
hhj 2001 08 18
Amazing (of course)! When will there be joystick support?
Seeker_L 2001 08 17
Another flash of lightning !! This plug-in is a true revolutionary.
jackiechan 2001 08 17

Something is wrong with the plugin page. I got it at my work computer earlier today and it looks great, but I can't download it now that I'm home. I read the FAQ and did everything the same as at work, but no dice.
Room335 2001 08 17
Hi, for some reason my beta dowmlaod page won't link for the windows download. Is there another way to get it?
iMyst 2001 08 17
Dang. I wait through the first day of school, and I can't find Windows plug-in. Where do I get it?
scottishpig 2001 08 16

on little config it's really slow.. there is some exemple with no texture and with no automatique animation (exemple : single objet like a car or a mobile phone
scottishpig 2001 08 16
jbelanche- please dont fill in your subject as you did in the first post.... it is bloody rude.

I love this plugin- as it allows everyone to see my stuff w/o getting blender. (2 megs is an awful lot to download (i lied again :())
Rob_E 2001 08 16
Absoulutly Beautiful. But I think the system specs that you give for the games are maybe a little too high, I have a PII 400 mhz with Geforce2 MX PCI version(much slower than the AGP)and all of the games worked perfectly fine even the last one with specs at 700mhz and a geforce
anyway great job!!!!
Darwin 2001 08 16
Cool! Now I have a reason to make a homepage!
theeth 2001 08 16

Great job Guys and Girls at NaN

We've already been working on that certificate but it took a bit longer than expected. It'll be there asap!
nikolatesla20 2001 08 16
Caronte -

The install would be better if the control was digitally signed. Then you would not need to change your browser settings to get it to install. It would simply come up and ask you if you would like to install it.

I'm sure NAN will get the digital cert. after they know it's all working correct

nikolatesla20 2001 08 16
Awesome! Pol is right - the plugin runs games even faster it seems than normal blender!

I didn't run into any problems yet either

Caronte 2001 08 16
Very good!!
Awesome like ever.
But the install for IE5 WIN become dificult to inexpert users.
Can this be more easy?
Pol 2001 08 16
WowOOOO !!!!

I'am under Linux Slackware 8.0 with a Matrox G450 and the Web Plugin render some games better than the program Blender himself !!!!

Anyway...IT REALLY KICK ASSES !!!!
neoafbmm 2001 08 16
Awesome plugin, I love the boxes thing. I cant wait to see more content.
