As announced on the website, a Blender user meeting was held in London today. After the crew arrived at London Gatwick, we took an hour to check out our new booth in the Olympia hall and then raced in a cab to the Millennium Gloucester hotel. Pol, who had arrived at the hotel at least two hours early, accompanied us to the Olympia hall and got a sneak preview of the show.

We settled down in the bar of the hotel and in the course of the next two hours, more people came in. Many of them were from London and took the chance to spend a Saturday afternoon with us. Surprisingly enough many French people traveled to London just to meet us. If their enthousiasm is representative of the rest of the French community, we'd better start working on a user meeting en France!

While enjoying drinks in the hotel lobby, we once again experienced the strange sensation of meeting people that we have known on the internet for a long time.

Freid showed us a very impressive Python script from a friend. We were asked not to tell you anything about it yet (it was still in an early stage), but you'll be in for a surprise in a short while! Pol showed us a script that he had been working on and it was great fun to play with our laptops and see each other's work.

It was *that* small!

Of course Ton took the opportunity to get feedback from everyone and some requests for new features were made (selective raytracing, adding sounds to animations, including the physics engine in animations). I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of them made it into a future Blender release.

Suddenly it was five o'clock (one hour later than we planned) and we had to be off to the exhibition floor again. We all had a marvellous afternoon and we hope we will have many more such meetings in the future!

Time to say goodbye.

The stands do look like they were modelled with metaballs. Was this the same one used at
SIGGRAPH, or were you able to change the shape?
